Purpose of the training
Working in the NGO sector involves being able to manage crises when they occur, allowing programs to continue where suitable, without compromising safety of staff.
Our training will help you prepare to face any critical crisis situation you might come across in your work. To that end, we have designed this training around the following key points:
- Understanding what is covered in a Crisis Management Policy
- Inception, composition and management of a Crisis Management Team (CMT).
- Defining and delegating responsibilities within the CMT.
- Developing a Crisis Management Plan (CMP)
- Mainstreaming the plan at all organizational levels
- Handling the CMP through test and practice
- Identifying tools and procedures required for Crisis Management
Understanding the importance of internal and external communications when managing a crisis situation.
Duration
Our regular course is 2 days and can take place in your office or any other suitable location.

Kidnapping Initial Responder Training
Purpose of the training
Designed to provide you with the skills to act effectively as a ‘first responder’ if a kidnap or extortion event affects your organization. It seeks to give you the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to act confidently, objectively and effectively when protecting your staff and assets, if threatened by a kidnap or extortion-related incident.
The training covers:
- Organization Response
- Initial Contacts
- Dealing with the victim’s family
- Gathering intelligence on suspected offender
- Threat Assessments
- Active listening skills
- Liaison with stakeholders
- Making use of technical equipment
- Negotiation with suspected offenders
- Arranging ransom payment
- Arranging for a courier
- Dealing with a released hostage
- Post-incident policies and procedures.
